Nikki R. Breeland is an Associate in SLG’s New York Office.
Nikki is a New York attorney who graduated from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law with an LL.M. in Intellectual Property. While earning her LL.M, she served as an editor of The Business and Law of Fashion and Retail. Before obtaining her LL.M., Nikki served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Jimmy L. Croom at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Tennessee in the 2018-2019 term.
Nikki graduated with a J.D., magna cum laude, with a concentration in Entertainment & Sports Law from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2018. During her tenure in law school, Nikki served on the Mississippi Law Journal, the Federal Courts Law Review, and the Mississippi Sports Law Review. Nikki was also elected as the President of the ACLU, ACS, and Delta Theta Phi Fraternity. In addition, Nikki served as the Vice-President of the Entertainment Law Organization. In her 1L year, Nikki was tapped to join Phi Delta Theta Honor Society.
Nikki has published three articles: “The Army You Created”: Combating the Issue of Sexual Assault in College and Quasi-Professional Sports, 8 Miss. Sports L. Rev. 1 (2019), “Bad Blood”: Reconciling the Recording Industry and Copyright Protections on the Internet, 19.2 Fla. Coastal L. Rev. 169 (2019), and “All the Truth I Could Tell”: A Discussion of Title VII’s Potential Impact on Systemic Entertainment Industry Victimization, 25 UCLA Women’s L.J. 135 (2018).
Nikki has worked with big names like the Harry Fox Agency, Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Nikki has served clients in the television and film, modeling, food and beverage, professional sports, fashion, influencer, and media industries. At SLG, Nikki focuses on intellectual property, commercial, and employment matters to SLG’s global client base.
Nikki received the Client Choice Award in 2021, being recognized as one of the best reviewed lawyers on Avvo.
Nikki is heavily involved in her community as an active member of the New York Junior League where she mentors children in the performing arts. Nikki also sits on the Special Projects Committee and Impact Council of Mercado Global, an international fashion non-profit supporting and empowering the women of Guatemala.
She has lectured on the fundamentals of music covers for professional musicians and artists in New York.
