Kelly McDermott is an associate in SLG’s New York Office.

While in law school, Kelly served as a Notes Editor on the Cardozo Law Review and as a Teaching Assistant for courses in Property and Advanced Legal Research and Writing.

Kelly was the recipient of the Charles Ballon Writing Award for Best Work Published Outside Cardozo. Her Law Review article, A Tale of Two Cities: New Ownership and the Need for a Salary Cap in the MLB, was published in the Stetson Business Law Review.

Before joining SLG, Kelly worked with Major League Baseball’s Intellectual Property Litigation Department on trademark licensing, brand protection, and enforcement strategy. She also supported commercial and contractual matters for the New York Red Bulls Soccer Club, including sponsorship and trademark licensing agreements. In addition, Kelly represented filmmakers through Cardozo’s Filmmakers Legal Clinic, by drafting and negotiating production and financing agreements and advising clients on intellectual property and distribution to help bring films from development to release.

Prior to law school, Kelly earned her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, in Sociology from the University of San Diego, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
